Team USA's run at the 2026 World Cup begins on Friday night with its opening group stage match against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium.

The United States is hosting the World Cup for the first time since 1994, and as the host nation, its first game will be preceded by an opening ceremony featuring what should be an exciting performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney of the Grammy Award-winning country music duo Dan + Shay will be performing the national anthem for the American team. Meanwhile, the Paraguayan national anthem will be performed by musical duo Purahei Soul.

The national anthem will likely come at the tail end of the opening ceremony, which will also feature appearances from Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema and Tyla, though it's not entirely clear if those appearances will include musical performances.

It's going to be a massive moment for American soccer on Friday night, and the U.S. Men's National Team will hope to start the World Cup with a victory on its own soil.
