Eagles Offensive Coordinator Continues to Show Strong Feelings to Jalen Hurts

Entering the 2026-27 NFL season, there's a lot of hope that the Philadelphia Eagles' offense is going to be much better than it was a season ago. Plenty of that will fall on Jalen Hurts and new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, and there's a lot of reason to think that these things will go as planned.

As long as Philadelphia does what it does best, which is spreading things around on the offensive side of the football and ensuring it has a chance to compete at a very high level week in and week out, the Eagles offense will be more than fine. If Philadelphia doesn't do what's needed on that side of things, the offense will look like it did a season ago, and that's something nobody wanted to deal with.

However, there doesn't seem to be much concern within the organization about how Hurts and his new offensive coordinator will look.

In fact, Mannion came out and had a lot of high praise to say about him and what he can do for this offense.

“He can do anything we ask of him,” Mannion said, per AL.com. “He’s accurate. He’s a great athlete. He really attacks the fundamentals. That’s what’s been really fun to watch these last two weeks of Phase 2. He’s always coming wanting more things to work on, wanting more things regarding fundamentals, timing, understanding the scheme. He’s hungry for more, and those are the guys that are really fun to work with.

“In terms of his skill set, though, he has great arm strength, great accuracy, obviously a tremendous athlete and he really attacks the game. He has a great process in the meetings. He always asks really, really thought-provoking questions. He’s detailed and attacks his fundamentals. You know, he’s always a guy who stays after practice and is working on things. Those are the guys you love to work with.”

It's tough to disagree with some of what Mannion said here, though there have also been times when we've seen that Hurts doesn't make these types of plays.

Hurts is somewhat of a polarizing player, and at times can do certain things. At other times, he doesn't make those same plays. It's about finding some consistency for the Eagles quarterback now.
