Travis Kelce is tapping into some childhood nostalgia for his next big investment. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end purchased a minority stake in MLB's Cleveland Guardians, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.
It's a prime time for Kelce to join the Guardians, as Cleveland has a 3.5-game lead over the Chicago White Sox for tops in the AL Central. Kelce is certainly no fair-weather fan, though, as he tossed the first pitch at the Guardians' 2026 season opener and has been rooting for the squad since the 1990s.

"There was nothing like Cleveland baseball in the '90s," Kelce told Passan. "That's just a core memory for me. Kenny Lofton, Carlos Baerga, Jim Thome, Sandy Alomar Jr., the list goes on, and I admire how they just continue to pour into this city and this game. It's something that resonates with me, giving back to the places and the people that gave so much to you."
The Guardians are valued at roughly $1.66 billion, a rise from the $1 billion valuation made when David Blitzer bought himself a path to majority ownership in 2022.
Kelce, 36, also owns a stake in the Alpine Formula 1 team.
Now, here's a look at the athletes who Kelce will join among MLB ownership.
Active pro athletes with MLB ownership stakes
- Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Brewers)
- Cade Cunningham (Texas Rangers)
- LeBron James (Boston Red Sox)
- Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Royals)
With Kelce also set to get married to Taylor Swift soon, this is shaping up to be quite the summer for the Chiefs star.
