Avery Pope spent her first three years of college playing at BYU. She missed the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons due to missionary work in El Salvador.

In the 2023-24 season, Avery Pope went 6-10 in singles play and 9-4 in doubles play.

“We are very excited for Avery to join our Kentucky women’s tennis family,” Kentucky head tennis coach Shelley Jaudon said in a news release. “Avery has a unique story in pausing her athletic career to go serve others overseas. The maturity, selflessness and drive it took from her to live that experience is going to help Avery have an immediate impact on our program. We can’t wait to get started working with her!”

Prior to playing at BYU, Avery Pope lead her team in Utah to three state championships from 2018-20. She also reached as high as No. 3 in the state rankings and No. 10 in the Mountain Region.
