And as the 2026 World Cup approaches, the question of whether Neymar will play for Brazil remains a real one.
Neymar has been playing back in his home country for Santos, but an injury-plagued last few seasons certainly doesn't help the cause.

Is Neymar playing in the World Cup?
As of now, it looks more likely than not that Neymer will miss the World Cup.
"The 'Neymar debate' appears to be much hotter in the media than inside the CBF offices," wrote Gustavo Zupak of ESPN Brasil in a new roster projection on Wednesday. "His inconsistent performances at Santos, combined with concerns about injury and his behavior on and off the pitch, have made him a long shot to be named in the final squad."
The reality is that Brazil is never going to be devoid of attacking talent and midfield skill.
At the moment, they've got lots of guys with better health and better form than what Neymar would bring to the table.
Clearly, there's some intrigue to keeping Neymar around and having him try to play a role off the bench this summer.
There's also plenty of case to be made to leave him at home.
And right now, it appears Brazil is leaning toward the latter.
