NEW YORK — Add catcher to the list of the Mets' injury concerns.

Before the Mets' Wednesday game against the Tigers, Francisco Alvarez was placed on the 10-day injured list with a torn meniscus in his right knee.

A timeline for Alvarez's recovery is not yet known. Hayden Senger was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to back up Luis Torrens at catcher.

On the heels of A.J. Ewing's dynamic debut, which included three walks, a triple, two runs and two RBI, Carlos Mendoza was faced with his first test to his proclamation that he would play consistently.

With Tigers left-hander Framber Valdez returning from a suspension, Mendoza stuck with the left-handed hitting Ewing for the second game of the Mets' series at Citi Field.

Ewing was back in the lineup at center field, batting eighth on Wednesday.
