The cost to propose at a baseball game in New York might be one factor.
Citi Field in Queens, the home of the Mets, charges $1,500 for a video-board marriage proposal. That’s the highest amount among the 30 Major League Baseball stadiums, according to a recent survey by the sports betting website Sportsbook Review.
Yankee Stadium charges $150 according to the survey, more than all but eight teams on the list.
Truist Park (Atlanta), Rogers Centre (Toronto), Progressive Field (Cleveland), Oriole Park at Camden Yards (Baltimore), Daikin Park (Houston), Kauffman Stadium (Kansas City), Globe Life Field (Texas), Chase Field (Arizona), and Angel Stadium (Anaheim) do not allow individuals to purchase the right to propose in the stadium.
At least those teams have the foresight to save countless well-intentioned (and well-heeled) individuals the embarrassment that comes with public rejection.
The least expensive venue in which to pop the question lies in Pittsburgh, where baseball fans can pop the question at PNC Park for a mere $40.
The average cost of an in-stadium proposal in 2026 is $306. The money is probably better spent on a ring.
