The Ravens acquired Crosby in a monster trade with the Las Vegas Raiders that saw Baltimore give up two first-round picks, including their No. 14 overall pick this year and their 2027 selection.
"ESPN sources: the Raiders agreed to trade five-time Pro-Bowl DE Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for 2026 and 2027 first-round picks," ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.
The Ravens seemingly came out of nowhere.
There wasn't much buzz about the team's interest in Crosby, but business started picking up on Friday with a report from The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
Ravens make franchise history with Crosby trade
According to ESPN's Jamison Hensley, this is the first time in Ravens franchise history that the team has traded a first-round pick for a player.
"For the first time in the Ravens' 31-year history, the franchise will use a first-round pick to trade for a player," Hensley wrote.
The Ravens clearly employ the opposite approach of the "F them picks" philosophy the Los Angeles Rams have under general manager Les Snead.
If there's one player who was worthy of the Ravens breaking that streak, it's Crosby, who is one of the best edge rushers in the NFL. The five-time Pro Bowler will provide an immediate boost, both in the locker room and on the field.
