Just when Mike Trout started to remind MLB fans of his Hall of Fame talent, the Los Angeles Angels' center fielder landed on the injured list.

This time, succumbing to a hamstring injury, the Angels placed Trout on the 10-day IL and called up prospect Christian Moore from Triple-A Salt Lake. The moves were made before Thursday night's 5-0 loss to the AL West-rival Athletics at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, Calif.

On Friday, Jose Siri started in center and batted ninth for the last-place Angels (30-46). Siri flew out to right field during his first at-bat against Athletics starter Jeffrey Springs.

Angels need Mike Trout healthy, in lineup

Trout's trail of tears is long and winding. 

Since claiming his third AL MVP honor in 2019, Trout has not appeared in more than 82 games just twice (2022 and '25).  

The 11-time All-Star dressed for 74 of the Angels' initial 75 games and, despite hitting .234, Trout connected on 17 home runs and drove in 34 runs. Displaying youthful vigor, the 34-year-old entered Thursday with an AL-leading 54 runs scored. He also ranked second with 66 walks and stole seven bases, his most since '19.

Following the first batch of 2026 All-Star voting, the popular Trout reeled in the second-highest total among AL outfielders.

Pausing an eight-game hit streak, Trout aggravated his hamstring Wednesday while attempting to beat out a grounder in the eighth inning of the 8-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Trout opened the series with home runs in the first two games,
