New England Patriots defensive tackle played just four games in 2024. The 2021 second-round pick had just signed a four-year deal worth up to $92 million, but was sidelined for nearly the entire season after a scary battle with recurring symptoms from blood clots.

He fully bounced back in 2025 in the first season with head coahc MIke Vrabel. He was an integral part of the interior defensive line that made it impossible to run the football against the Patriots for most of the season.

Now two years removed from the incident, the Patriots still are not fully in the clear when it comes to managing Barmore's health.

"He’s a player that we have to manage. He’s able to get and understand what to do without practicing every single day. I just want to see him finish," Vrabel said as quoted by Mark Daniels of MassLive. "His attitude has been great. I enjoy working with him; I do. I’m looking for more and more of the same next year."

Defensive line coach Clint McMillan echoed that same sentiment, saying that this year Barmore will benefit from a fully healthy offseason.

"I always wanted to relay the message and focus on what you can do. Don’t worry about the things that may be limited," McMillan said. "I tell him all the time, like, we would not have ended up where we were if you didn’t play well. So excited for him to get a full offseason and excited to get the second year with him."

Barmore is not letting his pseudo load management get him down.

"Really just whatever they want me to do. I’m out here to work," Barmore said. "Every time I’m out here, it’s about the grind. With the training camp, I got to do what I got to do. I’ll be out here all the time, all I need to be. So it doesn’t matter. Let’s get it."
