In football, when people talk about the most important players on a good offense, the focus is on the QB, the offensive line, the WRs, and the RBs. In the NFL, this is clear in the contracts teams are willing to offer this position group, but TE is another story. Although they have become so important in today’s football landscape, NFL contracts do not reflect that. In college football, we are seeing more appreciation for the TE position, and LSU is lucky enough to have one of the best in the country.
Since becoming an impact member of LSU’s offense, Trey’Dez Green has improved each time he gets on the field. He is an absolute dominant red zone threat, has a chance of winning every single contested catch situation, and is really good after the catch. The drops are an issue that needs to be fixed, but past that, Green has all the talent in the world to become a top-tier TE moving forward.

In his first two seasons at LSU, Green’s production has not been great, but that was more about utilization than his talent. Green could have transferred to another program. Still, he stayed, and now in Lane Kiffin’s offense, Green could be a top weapon, especially with how much change there has been.
LSU has completely reloaded its WR room, and although there is upside, such a change can cause the offense to have a slow start. But with Green staying at LSU, he has a chance to be the weapon to step up for QB Sam Leavitt and quickly become his favorite pass catcher.
The 2026 season could be the perfect scenario for Green to show the country why he is one of the best TEs in CFB.
