Enquirer names Cincinnati high school athletes of the week, June 12

In a vote that ended June 12, Cincinnati.com readers selected the 2025-2026 Cincinnati Enquirer/Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Athletes of the Week from high school sports action through June 7.

Winners can print their certificates from this week starting Monday and other weeks now using this Drop Box link. Send a photo of the winners with their certificates for our photo gallery.

Here are this week's winners.

Ohio big-school baseball team: Anderson – The Raptors reached the regional championship game thanks to a 2-1 win over Worthington Kilbourne.

Ohio small-school baseball team: Fenwick – Fenwick is on to the state tournament after a 16-6 win against Newark Licking Valley and a 5-4 thriller over Roger Bacon.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana baseball team: Campbell County – The Camels picked up a win in the opening round of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association tournament, beating LaRue County 6-1 before falling in a 14-10 shootout against Apollo.

Boys spring team: Little Miami track – Little Miami’s 4x400-meter relay team won the state title as the Panthers scored 32 total team points, tying for fourth overall in the Division I state meet.

Girls spring team: Loveland track – The Tigers, led by a three-championship performance by Caroline Murnan, scored 31 points to finish in fourth place in Division II.

Ohio big-school baseball: Grant Fyffe, Anderson – The sophomore pitched a complete game in a 2-1 win over Worthington Kilbourne in the regional finals, sending the Raptors to the regional final. He allowed two hits, two walks and struck out four.

Ohio small-school baseball: Isaac Barker, Fenwick – He made two key plays during a two-run rally in the seventh inning as the Falcons beat Roger Bacon 5-4 in the regional final for their first regional title since 1982. He placed a perfect bunt to third base for a single to load the bases, and he raced home with the winning run on Boyd Westerfield’s grounder, barely beating the throw from shortstop.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana big-school baseball: Camden Tiemeier, Campbell County – The senior had a double, home run and four RBIs in the Camels’ 6-1 win over LaRue County in the first round of the state tournament. He had a two-run homer in the team’s 14-10 loss to Apollo in the second round, ending the season with 11 homers and 63 RBIs.

Ohio boys lacrosse: Vince Fiorina, Mariemont – The senior scored three goals in Mariemont’s regional semifinal match against Bishop Watterson.

Ohio girls lacrosse: Nellie Deeter, Mariemont – The sophomore netted five goals in Mariemont’s narrow 14-13 semifinal loss to eventual state champions St. Francis DeSales.

Ohio boys track and field: Dom Ellis, St. Xavier – The senior won the Division I 3,200-meter run state title in 9:10.04, leading four Cincinnati-area runners to the podium. He also won the 1,600-meter run in a new personal best of 4:10.37, becoming the first Cincinnati boy in 32 years to win a cross-country title and the outdoor 1,600- and 3,200-meter titles in the same school year.

Ohio boys track and field relay team:Little Miami – Carson Cherry, Isaiah James, J.Q. Wayne and Ethan Greenwood captured the Division I 4x400 meter relay in 3:16.9, a season’s best time and the top overall time in the state this season.

Ohio girls track and field: Caroline Murnan, Loveland – One day after being part of the state-record setting 4x800 meter relay, she won the DII 400-meter dash in 55.29 seconds and won the 200-meter dash in 24.0 seconds, a new personal best and the second-fastest time in the state this season.

Ohio girls track and field relay team:Loveland – Delaney Cilley, Brynleigh Scherman, Emma Todd and Caroline Murnan won the 4x800 meter relay in a new Division II state record of 9:05.14.
