The Dripping Springs native did not make any appearances for the Horns in 2026. #HookEm 🤘🐂⚾️
The 6’3, 220-pounder redshirted during the 2026 season and has four seasons of eligibility remaining.
An early pledge to former head coach David Pierce in 2022 out of Dripping Springs, Rummel was one of the top-ranked players in the 2025 signing class for the Horns with Perfect Game ranking him as the No. 19 right-handed pitcher and the No. 81 player overall and writing the following evaluation of the big pitcher:
Large frame and physical build with lots of well-proportioned strength throughout. Primary right-handed pitcher who only pitched during the event. Very easy, methodical delivery and gets over his front side cleanly and efficiently. Clean arm path through release with a fastball that was up to 95 mph multiple times. Showed real feel for fastball command, moving it around to both halves of the plate with intent. Up to 19″ of IVB on the heater with true backspin and carry on the pitch. Showed both curveball and slider. Curveball showed more depth to it while the slider was flat with good sweeping action to it. Both look like potential solid pitches long term. Held velocity throughout the outing and has the durable frame and stuff to turn over a lineup multiple times. Tremendous student. Verbal commitment to Texas. Selected to play in the Perfect Game All-American Classic.
And although Rummel didn’t factor into the pitching rotation for Max Weiner as a true freshman, head coach Jim Schlossnagle named the local product as one of four redshirting pitchers whose futures he was excited about, along with right-handers Kaleb Rogers and Grady Westphal, and left-hander Jack McKernan.
So that makes Rummel the most significant departure yet for Texas even though he never contributed on the Forty Acres.
