Following a midseason trade from the Philadelphia 76ers, former Duke guard Jared McCain went on an incredible run with the Oklahoma City Thunder, propelling them to multiple playoff victories throughout the 2026 NBA playoffs.

Unfortunately for McCain and the Thunder, that run ended Saturday night as Oklahoma City fell to the San Antonio Spurs in Game 7, 111-103. Once again, McCain was one of Oklahoma City's leading scorers off the bench, finishing with 12 points on 5-for-12 shooting. In 15 playoff games this postseason, McCain averaged 10 points, 1.9 rebounds and one assist in 17 minutes per game.

Following the loss, McCain spoke to the media Sunday during his exit interview, opening up on his role throughout Oklahoma City's playoff run.

“I never had expectations for myself coming in," he said. "Once I knew that I can provide some help for this team, it was almost like, let me. I want to do anything I can to help this team win.”

McCain went on to share how surreal the experience was.

"If you told me four months ago that I would start in some Western Conference Finals games and play the role that I was able to play, not that I thought you were crazy, but I would look at you a little weird."

With two more seasons remaining on his rookie contract, McCain will have plenty of postseason opportunities with the Thunder before reaching restricted free agency after the 2027-28 season.
