Tennessee softball's next opponent, TV, game time determined

Tennessee (49-10) softball will next play on Monday in the College World Series semifinals. The Lady Vols will face Texas (49-12) at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

First pitch between the Lady Vols and Longhorns is scheduled for noon EDT on Monday. ESPN will televise the matchup.

Tennessee won its opening game in the College World Series, 6-3, against the Longhorns.

"Great game against a great opponent," Tennessee head coach Karen Weekly said after defeating Texas on May 28. "Texas is as good a team as is out there. I'm really proud of our team.

"I'm really proud of how we came out with a really good balance of being excited to be here and calm. I thought because of that we just played with a lot of joy, played with a lot of heart, played with a lot of passion."

The Longhorns defeated Mississippi State, 4-0, and Nebraska, 3-1, after losing to Tennessee.

The all-time softball series between Tennessee and Texas is tied, 8-8, dating to Feb. 14, 1998.

A best-of-three championship series in the College World Series will begin with Game 1 on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. EDT and will be televised by ESPN.
