Although the Giallorossi have yet to announce a sporting director, the club and Gian Piero Gasperini have already identified a player they must bring to Trigoria at all costs: Marseille winger Mason Greenwood.
The Roman club and the French club share the same need: to raise funds by June 30th.
This detail could convince OM to lower their demands for their players.
The Friedkins are also ready to sacrifice Matias Soulé, but will soon make an attempt for the English winger.
Roma’s goal—as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport—is to lower Marseille’s asking price, which values Greenwood at around €50 million, partly due to the high buy-back clause (40%) Manchester United has secured.
The Giallorossi are aiming to close the deal at €40 million plus bonuses to please Gasp.
It won’t be an easy deal. In the coming weeks, the Roman club will work to meet Marseille’s demands, although the player has nevertheless been open to the offer: the Englishman has no intention of returning to the Premier League, and has given the Giallorossi the green light, buoyed by their Champions League qualification.
