May 31—When Brad Underwood follows Team USA this coming week at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup he won't just be keeping tabs on Illinois freshman guard Quentin Coleman. The Illini coach will have added interest in a pair of Coleman's teammates.
Bolingbrook native Davion Thompson has long been on Illinois' recruiting radar in the Class of 2027. Now, Underwood and his coaching staff also have their eyes on Demarcus Henry. The 6-foot-7, 200-pound wing secured an Illini offer this week.

Henry is one of the top prospects in the Class of 2027. The Santa Ana, Calif., native, who plays at Compass Prep (Ariz.), is ranked as a five-star recruit by both 247Sports and ESPN. The latter ranks him as the No. 3 overall prospect in the country in his class. On3/Rivals has him ranked No. 17 overall and just outside five-star status.
Henry holds a slew of high-level offers, with his recruitment picking up steam this month. Every power conference is represented from the ACC (Virginia, North Carolina) to the Big 12 (Kansas, BYU) to the SEC (Kentucky, Arkansas) to the Big East (Connecticut) to others in the Big Ten (USC, Ohio State).
Henry averaged 24 points during his sophomore season at Compass Prep and has kept up that level of production during his time with Vegas Elite on the Nike EYBL circuit. He played just the first two sessions in Atlanta and Memphis, Tenn., with the third in Kansas City, Kan., falling the same weekend as the U18 training camp. Through seven games he's averaging 19 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and two steals.
