Solapur Division of Central Railway Conducts Special Fire Safety Seminar for TTEs to Strengthen First-Line Emergency Response

The Solapur Division of Central Railway organised a comprehensive Safety Seminar and Fire Extinguisher Demonstration for Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs) at Solapur Station on 23rd May 2026, in a significant initiative aimed at enhancing onboard safety and emergency preparedness.

The seminar was a dedicated fire safety and emergency response session conducted specifically for TTEs of Solapur Division, recognising their critical role as the “first line of defence and first responders” during unusual incidents onboard trains. The seminar focused on equipping frontline railway personnel with practical knowledge and confidence to effectively respond to fire-related emergencies in trains and station premises.

The following activities and counselling sessions were conducted during the seminar:

- Detailed explanation regarding classification and application of DCP (Dry Chemical Powder) and CO₂ (Carbon Dioxide) type fire extinguishers.

- Awareness session on different classes of fire namely Class A, B, C, D and F fires along with suitable extinguishing methods.

- Practical guidance on handling, operation and safe usage of fire extinguishers during emergencies.

- Live demonstration on operation and handling of fire extinguishers to improve practical confidence of staff.

- Training regarding use of firefighting equipment available in trains and station premises.

- Guidance on initial response actions during onboard fire incidents and important safety precautions.

- Counselling on prompt reporting of smoke/fire incidents and immediate communication with railway control offices and concerned officials.

- Awareness regarding passenger safety, evacuation procedures and crowd management during fire-related emergencies.

- Emphasis on maintaining alertness during duty hours and proper knowledge of firefighting equipment.

- Counselling against carrying or allowing transportation of inflammable and hazardous materials in trains and station premises.

- Safety awareness regarding electrical fire hazards and preventive measures.

Additionally, the Safety Department screened a special instructional video regarding isolation of FSDS (Fire and Smoke Detection System), ACP (Alarm Chain Pulling) and FIBA (Failure Indication cum Brake Application) systems. Information regarding operation of valves and handling emergency systems in moving trains proved highly beneficial for the participating TTEs.

The interactive session concluded successfully with Safety Counselors patiently addressing doubts and queries raised by the staff and providing practical guidance for real-life emergency scenarios.

Solapur Division remains committed to strengthening safety awareness and operational preparedness among frontline railway employees through such proactive initiatives, thereby ensuring enhanced passenger safety and efficient emergency response across the division.
