Looking at the Denver Broncos' 2026 schedule, the toughest stretch of games is very easy to identify.

The first six games of Denver's schedule are brutal, so much so that Colin Cowherd has suggested the NFL is "punishing" coach Sean Payton with a tough slate to begin the season.
First, the Broncos will go on the road to face the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football in Week 1. After that, Denver will return home to host the Jacksonville Jaguars (who beat the Broncos last year) in Week 2.
Then Denver will host the Los Angeles Rams (a Super Bowl favorite) on Sunday Night Football in Week 3. Up next, the Broncos will go on the road to face the San Francisco 49ers (another NFC contender) in Week 4.
After that, Denver will have another road game against the Los Angeles Chargers (who beat the Broncos in LA last season) in Week 5. Then, on a short week, Denver will host the Seattle Seahawks (the defending Super Bowl champions) on Sunday Night Football in Week 6.
That six-game stretch would be a tough slate for any NFL team. Fortunately for the Broncos, the schedule gets softer (on paper) from Weeks 7-15. If Denver can get through the early stretch even at 3-3, the Broncos could still be in a good position down the stretch. And if Denver exits the first six weeks with a winning record, there will be no denying that the Broncos are true Super Bowl contenders. We could learn a lot about the 2026 squad early in the season.
