Halton Regional Police have charged seven people with multiple offences and seized dozens of pieces of stolen property following an initial investigation into theft from a vehicle.
In late March 2026, officers received a report of a theft of a wallet from a vehicle in Oakville, where the victims’ stolen credit cards were accessed and used.

As the investigation unfolded, a female suspect, Kathleen Rand, and a male suspect, Daniel Gignac, were identified. On May 11, Rand was arrested.
Cops say following her arrest, several pieces of stolen identification were found in Rand’s possession.
On May 13, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Oakville, where six individuals, including Gignac, were taken into custody. Illicit drugs and multiple items of stolen property were recovered.
Among the seized items were six e-bicycles, gasoline-powered generators, power tools and gift cards.
Rand, 22, of Oakville has been charged with two counts each of theft of credit card and unauthorized use of credit card data, and one count each of possession of property obtained by crime – under $5,000, possession of identity documents, possession of property obtained by crime – over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime – over $5,000 – trafficking, possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and failure to comply with probation order.
Daniel Gignac, 40, of Burlington, has been charged with two counts of theft of credit card and one count of unauthorized use of credit card data.
Five more charged from Oakville
Kaleb Sciranka, 43, Dennis Costa, 36, Renee Hamilton, 43, Kevin Witts, 47, and Michael Tekic, 70, all of Oakville, have been charged with the possession of property obtained by crime – over $5,000; possession of property obtained by crime – over $5,000 – trafficking and possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
The investigation is ongoing and investigators are in the process of locating the rightful owners of the stolen property.
