Kieran Newey, Alex Moore, Nathan Crawford and Ryan Leister said they spent months bringing their concept to life and would reveal it at a launch event in the city on 23 May.

The friends, part of fan group Old Gold Pack, said they hoped to sell them for £50, with the majority of profits donated to Wolverhampton charity Compton Care and the rest funding future fan displays and flags.

The shirt features a crest synonymous with Wolverhampton, the group said, and they "reworked it into something that reflects the city, as supporters would like to see it".

Newey said: "It's a shirt designed by the fans, for the fans, and grounded in the club's history - but not stuck in the past

"It literally started with Alex and Nathan playing around with ideas and sending designs into the group chat.

"It was more of a 'what if' at first, but the more we looked at it, the more we thought we could actually make something happen."

The stripes are "a nod" to original kits, the friends said, with a reference to St Luke's FC, the name of the club when it was founded in in 1877, "along with other subtle touches that weave different eras together".

The club will be playing in the Championship in its anniversary year, having been relegated from the Premier League after eight years.

But despite the gloom around the club, the friends said "supporting Wolves isn't something you pick up and drop - it's part of who you are".

Newey added: "It's about respecting where we've come from while putting our own mark on it and telling that story in a way that feels like it belongs to us."

The Old Gold Pack fans' group have designed and organised previous stadium displays including for ex-players Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota after his sudden death in July 2025.

"Until you are involved in a project like this, you have no idea how much work goes into it. But it has all been worth it and we are delighted with the outcome," Leister added.

The launch event will be held at North Street Social in Wolverhampton from 19:00 BST, with the first batch of shirts available from mid-July, the group said.

The club has been contacted for a comment.
