Washington Commanders rookie linebacker Sonny Styles made an interesting revelation on Tuesday on 106.7 the Fan.
Styles was a guest on the "Grant & Danny Show," which airs at 2:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday. Co-host Grant Paulsen inquired of Styles, "At rookie minicamp, did you wear the green dot, and have them calling plays into the helmet, and then (you) have to relay them?"

Styles replied, "Yeah, I had the green dot for rookie minicamp." Styles offered no explanation, simply answering the question and then waiting for Paulsen to respond. "And what about at school? How much of that did you do collegiately?"
Again, Styles simply chose to answer the question, "I wore the dot during my junior and senior years at school." Paulsen dug some more, "Is that something you would be comfortable with? Is that something you would take pride in or care one way or another as a rookie?"
Again, low-key, matter-of-fact, is how Styles continued to respond, "Yeah, I'm fully comfortable with doing it. I'm not sure if I said it, but I take pride in it. If someone wants to wear the green dot, I feel fully comfortable commanding the huddle, doing that. But I know we have other veteran guys in the room as well. So I am sure they could do it as well."
Styles seemed confident but not boastful. He was quiet but not actually downplaying where he is with the Commanders thus far. It would be great for the team if the young man were as calm and confident as he appears to be thus far.
The green dot is usually worn by the quarterback on offense and then by a player on defense with whom coaches relay the defensive calls. The player hears the call through his helmet and then communicates it to teammates in his huddle. Linebacker Bobby Wagner handled the role during the last two Washington Commanders seasons.
