CLEVELAND (AP) — Joey Cantillo pitched six scoreless innings, rookie Travis Bazzana capped a five-run third inning with a two-run double and the Cleveland Guardians defeated the Los Angeles Angels 7-2 on Monday night.
Cantillo (3-1) allowed five hits, walked one and struck out four.

Brayan Rocchio put the Guardians ahead 2-0 when he greeted reliever Jose Fermin with a single in the second inning after opener Brent Suter was lifted.
The Guardians had a five-run outburst in the third inning, taking advantage of four walks, to extend their lead to 7-0. David Fry drew a bases-loaded walk and Daniel Schneemann hit a two-run single before Bazzana capped the rally by lining his two-run double to center field. Bazzana was the first pick in the 2024 amateur draft.
The AL Central-leading Guardians improved to 28-4 against the Angels in Cleveland since the start of the 2014 season. The Angels also lost for the 16th time in their last 21 games.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Ryan Weathers took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, then gave up a single before Coby Mayo hit a three-run homer off reliever Brent Headrick to lift Baltimore over New York.
Weathers lost his no-hit bid when Adley Rutschman opened the seventh with a bouncer up the middle. After Tyler O’Neill drew a one-out walk, Yankees manager Aaron Boone brought in Headrick (3-1).
Mayo, who came into the game with a .158 batting average, hit Headrick’s third pitch into the left-field seats.
Weathers struck out nine and walked two. He threw 101 pitches.
Dietrich Enns (1-0) got the win in relief of starter Brandon Young, and rookie Anthony Nunez got three outs for his second save.
RAYS 8, BLUE JAYS 5
TORONTO (AP) — Jonathan Aranda hit a home run and drove in three, Richie Palacios had three hits and three RBIs, and AL East-leading Tampa Bay beat Toronto, their 15th win in their last 17 games.
Chandler Simpson had three hits, stole two bases and scored three runs as the Rays improved their AL-best record when scoring four runs or more to 21-4. Tampa Bay has won 10 straight and 20 of 21 when scoring four or more.
Andrés Giménez hit two home runs for the Blue Jays, the first multihomer game of his career. Giménez hit a three-run drive off Drew Rasmussen in the second and added a two-run shot off Ian Seymour in the seventh.
Giménez’s homers ended Tampa Bay’s franchise-record streak of allowing three earned runs or fewer at 16 games.
Rasmussen (3-1) allowed three runs and four hits in six innings.
Hunter Bigge got five outs and Bryan Baker finished for his 11th save in 13 chances.
