Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mahadevaswamy emphasised that this project is not merely an expansion of IIFT's physical footprint, but a long-term investment in the institution's ability to compete and collaborate on the world stage.
The new IIFT campus is being developed on a 7.55-acre site in South Delhi, strategically located near Chhatarpur with excellent connectivity to key parts of the city, including metro stations, arterial road networks, and the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Envisioned as a modern and integrated academic hub, the campus will have a total built-up area of nearly 54,000 sq. m., designed to complement and expand the capabilities of the institute’s existing campus. The project aims to provide a holistic environment that fosters academic excellence, research innovation, and global engagement.
The campus has been thoughtfully designed to include state-of-the-art academic, residential, and institutional facilities. The Academic Block will house smart classrooms, lecture halls of varying capacities, faculty offices, conference rooms and a modern library, enabling a technology-driven learning ecosystem. A prominent feature of the campus will be a 1000-seater auditorium equipped to host international conferences, seminars, and institutional events.
Student residential facilities will include a modern hostel complex accommodating over 600 students, complete with dining, fitness, and recreational amenities. In addition, dedicated residential units for faculty members will ensure a cohesive and vibrant campus community.
The development incorporates energy-efficient systems such as LED lighting, solar photovoltaic installations and advanced HVAC systems, along with passive design strategies that enable over 80 percent daylight utilization in regularly occupied spaces. The campus will also feature rainwater harvesting, water recycling systems, low environmental impact construction materials and efficient waste management practices, ensuring reduced ecological footprint and enhanced resource efficiency. In addition to its academic and residential features, the campus will be equipped with modern infrastructure including two-level basement parking with capacity for over 400 vehicles, barrier-free access in compliance with universal design standards, advanced fire safety systems and well-planned circulation networks for pedestrians and vehicles. The design integrates landscaped courtyards, open spaces, and interconnected pathways, creating a dynamic and interactive campus environment.
For NBCC, this project adds another landmark to a portfolio that spans some of the country's most significant institutional and government infrastructure. As a Navratna CPSE with deep expertise in large-scale project execution, NBCC's involvement is a mark of the project's ambition and the confidence placed in its delivery capabilities.
