Those early-season struggles might've been a bit overblown, as they have won five of their last six games. They are also one game back of the top spot in the AL West.
As ESPN's David Schoenfield highlighted, it's way too soon for Mariners fans to panic about the team's struggles this season. Whether it's the rotation, Cal Raleigh, Josh Naylor, or their overall play, the Mariners should be just fine by season's end.
It's too soon to panic with Mariners
"There is some panic about Luis Castillo and Logan Gilbert, who have both been hit hard early on, but the Mariners' lineup and rotation should play out over 162 -- and it helps that the AL West looks mediocre so far," Schoenfield writes.
Schoenfield gave the Mariners a 1.5 out of 5.0 on the "panic-meter score" this season, as there are some reasons to worry, but not enough to feel as if the season is over.
Sure, Castillo and Gilbert aren't playing up to expectations, but it's not nearly bad enough to be concerned about the team's postseason chances.
Thanks in part to a very weak American League so far, the Mariners are more than okay when it comes to making the postseason. Once they're there, anything can happen.

Seattle has also seen their sluggers in Raleigh and Naylor begin to turn things around after brutal starts to the season.
Raleigh is up to seven homers this season, while Naylor is climbing back to a more respectable average after a rough start to the year.
Things are trending in the right direction for this Mariners team, and it's still early enough in the season that fans should not be panicking about the team just yet.
