A familiar face is returning to lead Independence boys basketball ahead of the 2025-26 TSSAA season.

Independence has hired Jeremy Moore as its next coach, according the basketball team's X account, and confirmed by Williamson County AD Patrick Whitlock on April 27. Moore replaces Mark Wilkins, who resigned in April to take an assistant principal role at Page.

This is Moore's second stint at Independence, having previously led the boys basketball program between 2009 and 2012. He then coached at La Vergne for seven seasons.

Moore most recently served as Centennial's boys basketball coach for five seasons, resigning after the 2024-25 TSSAA season, in which the Cougars made the program's first-ever sectional appearance, falling to eventual state champion Hillsboro. Moore was 90-57 in his time leading Centennial, finishing with a winning record in all but one season.

Independence moved quickly to fill the head coaching vacancy, hiring Moore just two weeks after Wilkins confirmed his departure to The Tennessean. Wilkins led the Eagles boys basketball program to a 132-42 record over the previous five seasons, reaching consecutive state championship games in 2023 and 2024.

After finishing runner-up in 2023, Wilkins and the Eagles claimed the program's first-ever state title in 2024.
