With Liam Rosenior now gone, we’re in for a long summer of speculation about who the new Chelsea manager might end up being.
We’ve seen all the usual names trotted out time and again, now a rogue one has been thrown into the mix. CaughtOffside quote Italian sources in saying that former Chelsea (and current Napoli) manager Antonio Conte is back on the agenda.
He’s continued to impress since leaving us, winning titles with his current team and with Inter. But his time at the south of Italy could soon come to an end if he feels he’s run his course there.
Why Conte is never coming back to Blues
This is really a preposterous idea for a number of reasons.
We all love Conte and would happily have him back at Chelsea, but it’s never going to happen. If the Italian coach wasn’t able to work in the pretty permissive atmosphere created by Roman Abramovich and Marina Granovskaia, imagine how he’d cope with the BlueCo setup?
He’d be in a shouting match with his sporting directors and owners within weeks. This is a total non-starter, and we don’t think they’d even consider Conte as an option.
