Pune: The Pune Rural Police have busted a drug racket in Shirur and arrested three persons with mephedrone (MD) worth ₹21.52 lakh. Police said the accused allegedly used the Porter app to transport the narcotics.

The action was carried out by the local crime branch along with Shirur police after receiving a tip-off. Officials said 47.60 grams of MD drugs and two four-wheelers were seized during the raid.
The accused have been identified as Vishal Maruti More (20), Pratik Santosh Langhe (25), and Mithun Vijaypal Singh (26), all residents of Shirur taluka in the Pune district.
According to police, the operation took place on April 17, 2026, near Shivsailila Mangal Karyalaya on the Nhavara Phata–Baburao Nagar road in Shirur. Acting on specific information, a joint team reached the spot and conducted a search following legal procedures. The drugs were found in the possession of the accused.
An FIR has been registered at Shirur Police Station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. The complaint was filed by Police Constable Tushar Pandare on behalf of the government.

During interrogation, police found that the accused allegedly procured the drugs through deliveries made using the Porter app. Officials suspect the platform was misused for transporting narcotics and are now trying to trace the main supplier behind the network.
Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill said police have begun questioning individuals who received such deliveries. Blood samples of suspected users have also been collected for testing, and further action will be taken based on the findings.

Police said strict action will continue against drug peddlers and users, especially to curb rising drug use among youth. The crackdown aims to break supply chains and prevent misuse of courier and delivery services.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior officers, including Inspector General Sunil Phulari and other officials of Pune Rural Police. Further investigation is underway.
