Alabama football quarterback Ty Simpson didn't have to wait long to hear his name called at the 2026 NFL Draft on Thursday night in Pittsburgh.

Simpson was drafted 13th overall in the first round by the Los Angeles Rams. Simpson was selected one pick behind his Alabama teammate, offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor.
"I believe his best football is ahead of him," former Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said of the Rams' decision to draft Simpson, who will back up longtime franchise starter Matthew Stafford. "He's going to an organization that has a great quarterback, and he (Simpson) won't have to play immediately. This is perfect."
Simpson had to wait his turn to start at Alabama, too. He backed up both Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe before starting all 15 games for the Crimson Tide in 2025. Simpson threw for 3,567 yards and 28 touchdowns to five interceptions. Alabama finished 11-4 and reached the College Football Playoff.
Proctor was selected by the Miami Dolphins one at No. 12 overall Thursday.
