At the NFL’s annual league meeting in Phoenix in late March, Jacksonville Jaguars general manager James Gladstone said the franchise will exercise the fifth-year contract option on offensive tackle Anton Harrison, according to Ryan O’Halloran of The Florida Times-Union.

A few days before the 2026 NFL Draft, and well before the league’s May 1 deadline to decide on fifth-year options, the Jaguars made it official.

Harrison has played 48 regular season games (all starts) in Jacksonville since being drafted 27th overall in 2023.

There were some rumors last offseason about the Jaguars considering moving Harrison from right to left tackle. He ended up staying on the right, but who knows — maybe ‘Ton is the blindside protector of the future.

Either way, the Jaguars have locked up a starting offensive tackle through the 2027 season.

According to O’Halloran, Gladstone said, “We’ll have deeper conversations,” regarding a potential contract extension for Harrison. Travon Walker just got paid, and Parker Washington and Brenton Strange are among the other Jaguars due for new deals soon.

“We’ve had touch points with just about all of them in a way that would say, ‘Is this something we can do in the now vs. a little bit later vs. not at all over the course of the rookie contract?’” Gladstone said. “We’re in striking distance on some. At the end of the day, it takes two to agree to something. The cool thing is that there are people on our roster who want to be Jaguars and want to do it beyond the contract they’re currently at. That gives us opportunity to find common ground.”

According to John Shipley of Jaguars on SI, head coach Liam Coen said Harrison can get “a lot” better.

“I was pleased with his response to our arrival … There’s not a lot he can’t do, athletically and physically. I think that he is seeing a little bit more of the vision and pathway of, ‘Man, I can do this for a long time and at a high level, make a lot of good money, and help a team try to win as much as humanly possible.’ Hopefully, we can take another step with that progression and that mindset and mentality this year, and see an even better version of Anton.”
