A 31-year-old man is facing an assault charge after a fracas broke out at a ball hockey game in Hamilton on Sunday night.

Hamilton Police said officers were called to Rosedale Arena after reports that one of the players hit the referee. Police said it happened after the game had just ended and the player confronted the referee about some of the calls he made during the game.
The Hamilton Adult Ball Hockey League told the Hamilton Spectator that the accused player has been handed a lifetime suspension and the player’s team has also been removed from the league “going forward.”
Deadly crash in Niagara-on-the-Lake
A man is dead and another person is in hospital following a head-on collision in Niagara-on-the-Lake on Monday morning.
Niagara Regional Police, alongside Niagara Emergency Medical Services and Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire and Emergency Services, responded to the scene Monday at 9:30 a.m. on Niagara Stone Rd. between Concession 7 Rd. and Airport Rd.
One driver was declared dead at the scene, while the other driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. There was no one else in either car.
The road was closed for several hours as the Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated.

Waterloo Police probe bear spray incident
Waterloo Regional Police are investigating after a report of people being bear-sprayed in the area of Kitchener’s Chandler Dr. Saturday.
Police said a fight took place between two groups. One suspect used bear spray in the fight and left before police arrived.
