La Liga giants Real Madrid are on a short list of clubs with the option to bring in Borussia Dortmund star Nico Schlotterbeck for a reduced fee this summer.
This comes owing to a clause in the German international’s new contract at Signal Iduna Park.

The name of defender Schlotterbeck has of course long emerged as a prominent one in the media headlines at Real Madrid.
As much comes amid the understanding that, in the thick of their ongoing search for reinforcements at the back, Florentino Pérez and co. have earmarked the 26-year-old as one potential target.
And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the German media is anything to go by, then Los Blancos could yet avail of a club-specific clause in Schlotterbeck’s contract to strike a deal.
As per a report from market insider Florian Plettenberg:
‘Understand Real Madrid are one of the few clubs that can activate a release clause for Nico Schlotterbeck this summer. The fee is around €50-60 million.’
