Cam Newton says Eagles QB Jalen Hurts isn’t as nice as people think

· Yahoo Sports

For the last few days, there have been reports of some tension between the Philadelphia Eagles and quarterback Jalen Hurts.

A source with the team told ESPN last that Hurts was “uncoachable” and there are also reports that this is a critical year for Hurts. The piling on of the quarterback continued when former NFL MVP Cam Newton added his two cents to the conversation, where it was clear that Newton questions Hurts nice guy persona.

“If Jalen Hurts had the persona of AJ Brown, people would be crucified," Newton said on "4th & 1 with Cam Newton" podcast. "I mean, golly... If Jalen Hurts had the persona of Shedeur Sanders, they would be crucified."

Newton thinks Hurts isn’t being burned by the press because he’s the face of several products.

“He’s the face of Jumpman. He’s the face of Sprite. You understand what I’m saying? And even in those commercials, he ain’t too much talking," Newton said, adding: “He’s the David Beckham of football. When have you ever heard David Beckham talk?”

To be fair, Hurts has had to deal with several changes over the years since he become the Eagles quarterbac, including changes with his offensive coordinator and head coach. But through it all, he’s taken the Eagles to two Supers, won one, and isn’t controversial a fact that Cam Newton can’t say about himself.
