Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Medical Teachers' Association (MTA) on Thursday warned of an indefinite strike from April 6 if no decision is taken against direct recruitment in medical colleges.

MTA continued its protest on Thursday by observing a complete work stop from 1 pm to 2 pm at the Block-2 porch of Hamidia Hospital. During this one-hour period, all operations, ranging from OPD services to academic activities, came to a complete standstill.
From heads of departments to medical officers, all faculty members suspended their services and staged a sit-in demonstration at the Block-2 porch. The association expressed strong indignation over the fact that, despite two days of continuous protests and a pen-down strike, the college administration has taken no steps to revoke the notification in question.
The protesters said that since the Gwalior bench of High Court has already struck down direct recruitment in a similar matter, there is no justification for the GMC Bhopal administration to persist with its stance.

MTA president Dr Rakesh Malviya said, "This agitation will not be withdrawn until promotions are ensured through the DPC (Departmental Promotion Committee) process."
