Radko Gudas didn't shy away. The Anaheim Ducks' defenseman knew what was coming when the Toronto Maple Leafs visited on Monday night.
This was the Leafs' chance to get vengeance for the Gudas hit that ended captain Auston Matthews' season.
Gudas was out on the ice for the opening faceoff.
The Leafs answered with a physical line, including Max Domi.
And on the faceoff, it was Domi who dropped his gloves. Bring on Gudas.
Domi threw a few uppercuts, then a few crushing righty punches over the top, to bring Gudas down to the ice.
It was no contest, a unanimous decision, practically a knockout.
Domi 1, Gudas 0.

It's not clear whether the Maple Leafs will look to continue going after Gudas later in the game, or even in the future.
But at least they got a bit of revenge. It won't equal the end of the season for Matthews, but it's all Toronto could do.
The Maple Leafs have expressed disappointment that they hadn't retaliated properly on the night of Matthews' injury.
Finally, with another matchup with the Ducks arriving, the Maple Leafs got a chance to hit back.
