The footage, published Friday, March 27 by TMZ, shows a clearly distraught Moore interacting with police on Dec. 10, the day he was fired by the university. Other law enforcement records show police detained Moore shortly after he left the apartment of Paige Shiver, his 32-year-old assistant with whom he had a roughly two-year affair.

The footage is just over three minutes. It shows officers standing next to Moore as he gets out of the driver's seat of a large black SUV. He appears to be crying as he raises his hands over his head. He is handcuffed and taken to a police vehicle.

Additional footage from inside the police vehicle show Moore speaking with an officer.

"I just got fired," Moore said in response to a question.

When the officer says he's sorry, Moore said, "That's part of life I guess. They wanted to fire me anyway."

Washtenaw County Prosecutors said Moore, now 40, entered Shiver's apartment, picked up two butter knives and backed her into a corner. He also reportedly threatened to harm himself.

But in the footage from the police vehicle, Moore is heard telling an officer "I don't want to hurt myself. I've got a beautiful family, kids."

Last year, prosecutors charged Moore with a felony and two misdemeanors related to the encounter at Shiver's home. Moore and his lawyers initially fought the case, saying he was innocent of the charges. But on March 6, Moore pleaded no contest to two different misdemeanors. He's scheduled for sentencing in April, where his lawyers do not expect he will receive any jail time.

Lawyers for Shiver put out a statement the same day as his plea deal, indicating she wants accountability from the university. The university hired a private law firm months ago to examine Moore's conduct, but that inquiry has expanded to review the culture of the athletic department.

Recently released invoices show U-M has spent at least $6 million on the investigation. It's unclear when the review will be complete.
