Dan Hurley took over as the UConn men's basketball coach in 2018. Since then, he has gone 196-74 overall, and he helped the Huskies cut down the nets as the national champions in both 2023 and 2024. It was UConn's fifth and sixth national championships in school history, and their first since 2014.

Hurley has led UConn to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last six seasons. He has the Huskies back in the tournament, and they have made it back to the Sweet Sixteen. Hurley has been one of the more consistent coaches in college basketball, but he doesn't do it alone.

Here is more on Hurley's coaching staff, including the son of legendary actor Bill Murray.

Dan Hurley UConn coaching staff

Officially, Hurley has only a three-person coaching staff. The remainder of the staff is called "support staff," but really, they are part of the coaching staff in some capacity. Hurley has been at UConn since 2018 and has coached the Huskies to a 196-74 record in his tenure, including back-to-back national championships in 2023 and 2024.

Overall, UConn has four coaches: Hurley, associate head coach Kimani Young, and two assistants, Luke Murray and Mike Nardi. Murray is the son of actor Bill Murray and chose not to follow in his father's footsteps, but instead followed his passion for coaching basketball. He has been involved in coaching since 2008. Murray has been at UConn since 2021, joining Hurley's staff after spending three years at Louisville.

It was announced on Thursday, March 26, the day before UConn's Sweet 16 matchup, that Murray would become the new head coach at Boston College. He will be leaving Hurley's staff whenever their 2026 NCAA Tournament run ends.

Kimani Young has been coaching since 2012. His first year was with FIU, before taking an assistant job at Minnesota. Young then joined UConn in 2018. Mike Nardi is the youngest member of the four-man coaching staff. After his international career ended in 2015, he began coaching in 2017 at Villanova as an assistant. Nardi was at Villanova through the 2024-2025 season before joining Hurley at UConn ahead of the 2025-2026 season.
