A two-day international seminar organised by the Department of History and Archaeology at Utkal University concluded successfully on the 22nd and 23rd, drawing participation from eminent professors, academicians, and researchers from across India and abroad.
The seminar served as a vibrant platform for scholarly exchange, with participants presenting diverse research on history, archaeology, and cultural heritage. Among the notable contributions was a research paper by Chittaranjan, who is currently working on Dasia Aja, a pioneering figure in Odisha’s library movement and a globally recognised collector.

Chittaranjan’s paper, titled “Collection of Ancient Coins: Dasarathi Pattnaik Museum and Library, Nayagarh,” received widespread appreciation from scholars and experts at the seminar. His work highlighted the rich numismatic heritage preserved at the museum and underscored its significance in understanding historical and cultural linkages.
Dasia Aja’s legacy, as reflected through the collections at the Dasarathi Pattnaik Museum and Library, extends beyond regional boundaries. Known for amassing rare artefacts, literature, and cultural materials from across the world, he is regarded as a unique personality whose contributions have earned national recognition.
The seminar concluded on a high note, with participants emphasising the importance of continued research and collaboration in preserving and promoting India’s rich historical and cultural legacy.
