Can Adames retain his WBC title and stay on track for a huge rematch with Hamzah Sheeraz or will Williams dethrone him? Here's everything you need to know.
What Time Is the Adames Vs. Williams Fight?
The WBC middleweight title fight takes place Saturday, March 21 at the Caribe Royale Orlando in Orlando, Florida. DAZN's coverage begins at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT, with main event ring walks expected around 10:30 PM ET.
The fight airs exclusively on DAZN worldwide. A DAZN subscription is required.
What Is the Full Fight Card?
- Carlos Adames (24-1-1, 18 KOs) vs. Austin Williams (20-1, 13 KOs) for the WBC middleweight title
- Omari Jones vs. Christian Gomez, super welterweight
- Jaycob Gomez vs. Corey Marksman, lightweight
- Teremoana Teremoana vs. Curtis Harper, heavyweight
Why Was This Fight Rescheduled?
Adames and Williams were originally booked as the co-main event under the Teofimo Lopez vs. Shakur Stevenson card at Madison Square Garden on January 31.
Adames was hospitalized the morning of the fight for severe dehydration and had to withdraw.
Williams still fought on the card and picked up a unanimous decision over Wendy Toussaint. The cancellation created real tension between the camps, and the trash talk has escalated since.
What Should You Know About Both Fighters?
Adames, 31, represents the Dominican Republic and fights out of Las Vegas. He was elevated to full WBC middleweight champion in May 2024 after Jermall Charlo was stripped of the belt.
His first defense was a wide decision over Terrell Gausha, and his second was the controversial split draw with Sheeraz in Riyadh last February. CompuBox had Adames landing 94 power punches to Sheeraz's 48 in a fight most observers felt he won clearly. His only loss came to Patrick Teixeira back in 2019.
This will be his first fight in 13 months. Ring rust is a real factor.
Williams, 29, is an American out of Houston with a 5-inch reach advantage at 78 inches. His only loss came via 11th-round TKO to Sheeraz in a WBC Silver middleweight eliminator in June 2024. He hurt Sheeraz badly in the first round before fading. Since that loss, Williams has won three straight and looked sharp doing it.
Sheeraz is the thread connecting both fighters. If Williams pulls the upset, a Sheeraz rematch becomes one of the biggest middleweight fights available.
