The Los Angeles Lakers are gradually getting their roster to follow in the footsteps of Luka Doncic and others. One of the biggest priorities for LA has been getting everyone to fulfill their roles correctly. The summer is expected to be significant for the Lakers, as that is when Doncic hopes they can assemble a championship-contending roster.

“Dončić being just 26 gives the Lakers a far longer timeline to build a championship-contending team, but that doesn't mean they can slow down and take their time. Dončić told Lakers president Rob Pelinka and coach JJ Redick in May that he's not interested in taking the slow approach in building a contender,” CBS Sports’ Jasmyn Wimbish wrote.
For now, the Lakers are on a hot streak, winning six games in a row. A big part of it has been their defense, but also finding ways to get LeBron James more involved.
“We gotta get him some more shots and keep getting him involved on offense,” Doncic told the media.
The Lakers were able to beat the Houston Rockets on Monday night on the road. A key factor was Doncic’s scoring ability, along with the team’s defense. It was a special night for Doncic as he scored 35 points for the 25th time this season, making Lakers history.
“The Lakers defeated the Rockets 100-92 in Houston. Luka Dončić scored 36 points with six rebounds and four assists in the win. Dončić now has a league-leading 25 games with 35 or more points this season, passing Kobe Bryant and Jerry West for the eighth-most in a season in Lakers history,” SI’s Ryan Ward wrote.
With Doncic scoring at this level, it makes it easier for Austin Reaves and James, who can each contribute 15 or more points, to have a successful game. The Lakers are starting to click on all cylinders at the perfect time.
Doncic is poised to continue climbing the Lakers’ record books as his tenure with the team progresses. For now, he has surpassed Bryant and West for a remarkable record that stands proudly in historic company.
