After landing in Los Angeles in a massive trade with the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this week, the Rams reached a four-year, $124 million extension with McDuffie on Sunday afternoon, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The deal will make McDuffie the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history at $31 million a season, slightly more than the $30.1 million that Sauce Gardner receives from the Indianapolis Colts. McDuffie will receive $100 million guaranteed, too.

The Rams sent the Chiefs four draft picks in exchange for McDuffie on Wednesday, including the No. 29 overall pick and a fifth- and sixth-round pick in the draft later this year. McDuffie had 63 total tackles, one sack and an interception in 13 games last season. His campaign was shut down early due to a knee injury.
The Chiefs first selected McDuffie with the No. 21 overall pick out of Washington in 2022. He had a career-high 80 tackles during the 2023 campaign, and he had 59 tackles and a pair of interceptions in 2024.
While he didn't get a full season in last year, McDuffie had more than proven himself as a top cornerback in the league while on his rookie contract. As he was entering the final year of that initial deal this fall — the Chiefs exercised the fifth-year option of his rookie contract last spring, which set him up to play this fall on a $13.6 million guaranteed deal — an extension or a trip to free agency was seemingly inevitable. The Chiefs opted to cash in and move on from him after a season in which they missed the playoffs for the first time in more than a decade.
The Rams, clearly, were ready to pay McDuffie and give up plenty of draft capital to get him with the hopes of making it to a Super Bowl next season. He should provide a massive boost to their defense for years to come, too, even after a solid campaign in which they were just 10th in points allowed. The Rams went 12-5 last season and made it to the NFC conference championship game, but fell to the Seattle Seahawks.
