Boston is holding onto a Wild Card spot, and the Bruins have a couple of areas the team is looking to improve on. Ahead of the deadline, NHL insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period revealed the team is looking to add a right-shot defenseman and a top-six forward.
“The Boston Bruins are looking to address two areas of their club before the trade deadline kicks in next Friday and GM Don Sweeney in the market for a top-six forward and a right-shot defenceman,” Pagnotta wrote.
Boston has been linked to multiple defenseman, but Pagnotta reported that the Bruins are also focused on adding a counterman.
“Boston is also scouring the market for help up front, and the club’s preference is to add another center, though they are not opposed to bolstering themselves on the wing,” Pagnotta added.
Whether or not the Bruins will be able to address those needs ahead of Friday’s trade deadline is to be seen. But Boston has the cap space and assets to make some moves happen.
The Bruins currently have just over $4.5 million in cap space to work with.
Following Saturday’s loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, the Bruins are 33-21-5.
