The 2027 recruiting class for the Iowa football program currently consists of three high-caliber prospects in linebackers Gavin Stecker and Braylon Bingham, and tight end Jaxx DeJean.
On Monday, the Hawkeyes got one step closer to adding another talented three-star to that class when they found out they're in the final six schools for defensive lineman Josh Johnson.

Johnson is from Key West, Fla., and Key West High School. The 6-foot-5, 260-pound defensive lineman is the 735th-best prospect in the 2027 class and the No. 78 defensive lineman, per the 247Sports composite rankings.
The other schools in his final six are Florida, Miami, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, and Wisconsin. The Hawkeyes will need to beat out some prestigious schools and Big Ten foes if they want to win the talents of Johnson and get him to Iowa City.
Iowa has offered 15 defensive linemen in the 2027 class so far, with 14 of them still uncommitted at the moment. With the departure of Aaron Graves, Max Llewellyn, and Ethan Hurkett, among others, replenishing the cupboard at that position will be crucial over the next few years. The Hawkeyes are hoping Johnson can be one of those guys here soon.
